Wes Gonder Racing has announced that their veteran driver Clay Rogers will be helping mentor their new driver Tyler Lester this season in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. If the program goes together as planned, Lester will be behind the wheel of the No. 38 LightinFAST.com ride later this season.

Lester has had a successful racing career to date, winning races in the Legends cars.

Till he gets his chance behind the wheel, Lester will help the team work on the car, therefore soaking up knowledge in anticipation for his big chance.

Lester has seven championships in his young career. He cut his teeth in go-karts and Legends Car racing before advancing into Limited Late Models and Pro Cup racing in recent years. The win  total alone shows the ability in this 18 year-old's hands and right foot.

“It is going to be very cool working with Clay,” Lester said. “When I moved to the South I watched him race and have always looked up to him for his racing skill.” Lester also shared, “I appreciate that he knows so much about the race car and is willing to help me understand how it all works together to make a successful, race winning  car.”

The goal will be for Rogers to help fine tune those skills to help make the young driver stronger. WGR feels that Rogers is a good fit as he is a five-time Pro Cup Champion with 36 wins, 99 top fives and 126 top 10s

“I enjoy working with young guys who want to learn everything about this sport,” Rogers said. “He's out here getting dirty and working on the car so he'll be able to know how to make the car better.”

Rogers went on to note, “I am not interested in working with kids who show up with money  and spend the whole day in the hauler playing video games until it is time to drive. Tyler has the right attitude and it is going to be fun mentoring him.”

Marcus Morgan, sponsor and founder of LightninFAST.com, says he sees the team going to victory lane with Rogers, while helping breed young talent like Lester.

Team officials said Lester would drive in at least two events in 2014 and perhaps more once the details are finalized.
