Brandon McFerran would battle hard on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway, though the ‘Astronaut’ came up short as he would finish third behind Nicole Podewils and Billy Swartzenburg.

McFerran started off the night finishing second in the first heat after starting eighth. He then won his second heat after starting second.

In the feature, McFerran would start 16th in the feature and worked his way up to 14th by the first caution on the opening lap for Kevin Pickford spinning Kendra Adams in turn three.

After the restart, McFerran continued his climb through the field, moving into fifth on lap five with a pass on Brian Love. McFerran then got alongside Lance Foster for fourth, passing him on lap eight. On lap 11, McFerran got alongside Steve Belanger for third, passing him on lap 13. McFerran caught mid-race leader Ben Melenhorst on lap 15, passing him on lap 16 to move into second behind Nicole Podewils. McFerran would work to try and close the gap between himself and Podewils all the way till the caution at lap 19 for Ben Wolf having problems.

On the restart, McFerran battled side-by-side with Podewils for the lead, though the caution flew once again for Wendy Adams spinning in turn four.

On the restart, McFerran battled once again with Podewils, though would fall back to second as the pair made their way around the lap car of Morgan Robson. Billy Swartzenburg then made his way alongside McFerran with a couple laps left and edged McFerran at the line for the second spot.

As a result, McFerran picks up a third place finish to continue his string of good finishes at the 1/3 mile.
