With a big snow storm bringing in 25 cm of snow for all over Toronto, it was no wonder that drivers wanted to stay off the roads. As a result, Canadian Motorsports Expo staff chose to close the show two hours early on Friday night, while postphoning both main stage events to later in the weekend.
Spencer Lewis will be unveiling the 2012 Ontario Asphalt Short Track Power Rankings on Saturday at 6pm, following Michael Waltrip's autograph session, "Meet the Media Panel" and the Drag Racing Panel discussion. The rankings is meant to rank the top 10 drivers in order based upon driver's accomplishments in respect to the division they were competiting in, compared to their peers.
Also, the Grassroots Media Panel has been moved to Sunday at 4:15pm instead of Friday, and will follow a pair of autograph sessions featuring Kyle Busch and Trailer Park Boys.
As per the CME website, the Grassroots Media Panel consists of "several members of the media will take to The Mazda Stage to discuss grassroots Canadian short track topics and issues. Fans in attendance are welcome to participate ask questions and participate. Hosted by NASCAR Canadian Tire Series on TSN co-host Dave Bradley, the panel includes Ontario short track announcer Spencer Lewis, Quebec journalist Marc Patrick Roy, Ontario Oval publisher Greg Calnan, Canadian Tire Series announcer and Dirt Track Digest publisher Adam Ross."
Along with these announcements, McColl Racing Enterprises informed CME Show organizers that due to the weather, Ashley Garrett from US Legends will be unable to make the show to do the planned seminar.
Each year, the Canadian Motorsports Expo Powered by Inside Track Motorsports News takes place at the International Centre in Toronto and serves a kickstart to the 2013 race season for Canadian racing fans. The event features vendors tattering to driver needs, tracks showcasing their changes for the season ahead and drivers showing their new paint schemes for the season ahead.
