As the 2014 race season draws closer, the tracks are slowly releasing their 2014 schedules. The latest schedule to be released is from Delaware Speedway.

Delaware enters their sixty-third season of competition, continuing to deliver entertainment for the fans on Friday nights in London, Ontario.

The 2014 schedule is jam-packed with lots of racing action for their hometrack divisons - FT Garage Late Models, Coca Cola Super Stocks, Trucks, V8 Stocks, Enduro and Bone Stocks. The championships will be rapped up on Labour Day weekend - August 29th.

Though it also includes other highlights that promise memorable moments:

The Vintage Modifieds will be at Delaware Speedway on July 25th.

The fastest pavement open-wheel mods - ISMA Super Modifieds - return for another year on August 15th. They will be joined by the OSCAAR Hanover Holiday Modifieds.

The Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series and Ontario Pro Challenge Series will check out one of Ontario's quickest tracks on September 19th.

Also, for this season, Delaware and Flamboro Speedway have teamed up for the "Strong Inter-Track Competition: London Region vs. Hamilton Region".

"Selected groups of drivers will have a series of “away” races where they will represent our region at Flamboro Speedway," Delaware Speedway officials explained in their press release. "Delaware’s top-tier Late Model drivers will visit the Hamilton, Ontario oval on May 24, July 26, and October 4.  The Super Stocks will make the trip on June 28, July 19, and September 6.  These races are part of a six-event series for each class with three events at Delaware and three events at Flamboro.  The series will run under a separate points system that will put drivers from each region in head-to-head competition."

Delaware also announced a change to their Great Canadian 100 weekend. They will now run it later in the year - September 19th and 20th. The event will be a two-day event that will feature the Late Models, but also include other divisons. September 19th is 50 lap feature for Bone Stock, 50 lap feature for the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series and a feature for the Pro Challenge Series. It also will include qualifying for Late Models, Super Stocks, Trucks and V8 Stocks. Then on September 20th, there will be the Late Model Great Canadian Race APC Special (100), a 50 lap feature for the Bone Stocks, 50 lap Super Stocks Special, 40 lap Trucks feature and 40 lap V8 Stocks feature.

The 2014 race season finishes off with the Pumpkin Smasher on September 27th.

Delaware added in their release that they will be changing up their pre-race entertainment, as well as qualifying format to deliver more excitement for fans and drivers. Those announcements are forth coming.

“Anyone who doesn’t make the trip to Delaware Speedway this summer is going to be missing out on something special,” explained track PR director John Houghton.  “Expect outstanding events every weekend when the season opens at the end of May.”
