Competition resumes this Friday at Canada’s Hometown Track with a great card of racing featuring the track’s top-tier FT Garage Late Models, Demar Aggregates Trucks, and a special Open-Ontario Four-Cylinder Championship event. Spectator gates open at 6:00 pm, racing starts at 7:30 pm.
The FT Garage Late Models are up for another round of competition with a 40-lap feature race on the card for Friday. Jamie Cox (#22) of Dorchester sits on top of the points standings with his back-to-back feature race wins in the top-level division. His strong performance also places him on top of the power rankings. Those same rankings, which are based on driver’s most recent three weeks of competition, provide a hint as to who the biggest threats are to snapping Cox’s two-race streak:
LATE MODEL POWER RANKING TOP-5
Pos # Name
1. 22 Jamie Cox (Dorchester, ON)
2. 21 Matt Pritiko (London, ON)
3. 25 Cole Powell (Mt. Brydges, ON)
4. 72 Shawn Thompson (Ailsa Craig, ON)
5. 43 Jay Doerr (London, ON)
Also in competition is the Open-Ontario Four Cylinder Championship. The event is a special invitational race held each year that invites drivers from other regional tracks to bring their equipment out to Delaware to run on the big half-mile. Annually the event attracts a wide cross section of the racing community from pavement racers to dirt mini-modifieds. Within twenty-four hours of the intent to compete registration opening up over sixteen drivers had pre-registered for the event with more expected in the coming days. Last season it was Cory Young (#36x) of Owen Sound who did his home track of Varney Speedway Motorplex proud when he won the 35-Lap Open-Ontario Championship.
In the Demar Aggregates Trucks Gary Adriaensen (#55) of Belmont sits on top of the charts. Adriaensen’s on-track performance has made the competition look like they’re standing still. Even top-ranked contender Trevor Collver (#51) of Lucan has not yet been able to mount a challenge on the defending champion. The trucks are one lap into a feature race from last Friday when the rain started to come down. The trucks will finish that feature race to start the night before continuing with their new program for Friday.
