After grabbing the lead on lap three, Eli Tomac never looked back as he led the rest of the Supercross Lites West event in San Diego to take the victory.

"It’s good going into the break," the defending series champion said. "It was a great race, and an awesome track. San Diego has been good to me. We’ll come back sweet in Seattle.

Points leader Ken Roczen grabbed second from Jason Anderson on lap eight and rode there the rest of the night, almost passing Tomac at the line.

“I struggled the whole day," he said. "I don’t know why. I started catching Eli towards the end of the main event. It was a good race. It’s important to keep the red plate (as the series points leader) and have the lead by 17 points.”

Anderson, who grabbed the holeshot, was able to finish third on the night.

"It means a lot," he said. "My whole team has been behind me and working on the bike."

Austin Politelli finished fourth for his first ever top five followed by Kyle Cunningham.

Roczen now leads Tomac by 17 points as they head into the break, while Cole Seely sits in third after finishing 15th.
