After the second half of the Rick Wooler Memorial was rained out at Varney Motor Speedway, OSCAAR made the decision to run the event as part of the Velocity 250 weekend at Sunset Speedway.

In the first half of the event at Varney Motor Speedway on Saturday September 14th, Gary McLean picked up the checkered ahead of Brian McLean, Brent McLean and Davey Terry.

With this being the second half of the event, the OSCAAR Mods would only run one round of heats, with the heat line-ups determined by how you finished the 30 lapper at Varney. If any cars showed up that were not at Varney, they would have to start at the back of the heats.

With all this said and done, OSCAAR got it sorted out and the Modifieds put on a good show as they always do.

Trouble would strike early in the first heat as Bobby Tolton would head to the infield with problems. Then a little further on, Monty Kelly would get loose off of turn four and a little contact with Matt Barton resulted in Kelly into the inside wall. With water leaking for his mod, he’d be done for the afternoon. Gary McLean won the heat ahead of Brent McLean, Justin Jones, Brad Pearsall, Billy Zardo, Chad Strawn, Darryn Wright, Barton, Dave Osbourne and Dustin Jackson.

The second heat started off the same way as Ryan Dick spun, collecting Rod Sauder in the process. Davey Terry won the heat ahead of Shane Stickel, Branden Bullen, Justin Demelo, Mike Westwood, Brian McLean, Sauder, John Harper, Dick and Ted Patterson.

The OSCAAR Modifieds will run a B-Main (if needed) to finish off setting the field tomorrow afternoon. Then later on in the day, they will run the 40 lap Rick Wooler Memorial as part of the rest of the Velocity 250 show. The day includes a 50 lap OSCAAR Super Late Model feature, a 75-lap Limited Late Model invitational, a 50 lap Super Stock invitational and a 35 lap Mini Stock invitational. The green flag will fly at 1:30pm EST with Family Channel Star Veronica singing the national anthem.
