For a driver, winning a single championship is something that they dream of. Though for Glenn Watson, he won his fourth consecutive OSCAAR Championship last season.
He started the season dominating the first half of the schedule as he kept finding victory lane.
“We didn’t want to lose,” Watson said on Friday night at the Inside Track Ontario Short Track Rankings. “We gave it all we could. It’s certainly great to win all of those races.”
There also adversity throughout the season as one night at Delaware Speedway, it looked like Watson may have to miss the race due to mechanical issues – before he stepped behind the wheel of Charlie Gallant’s car.
“We still felt we’d have a considerable lead even if we didn’t make the race,” Watson said. “But we didn’t want to leave anything on the table. Charlie was right there – in fact, three other guys offered their cars, too. It means a lot. Shows the respect between everybody.”
Despite all the success, Watson chose to sell the car and purchase a new Port City Chassis for 2012.
“The guys have been working on it, getting the body built,” he said. “Some what of a new look than what we had last year so hopefully it will look good.”
At the Canadian Motorsports Expo, it was announced that Watson was ranked fourth in the ranking on the Friday night.
