Home & Home Series A Great Success Quaker State Teams Have Good Night
July 13th Sunset Speedway
Tonight was the second of the Home and Home series between Sauble Speedway and Sunset Speedway.
The promoters of each track should be commended for creating the idea. It was a great success producing awesome results in car count and racing action.
There were over 30 Mini Stocks at the track forcing cars to qualify to make the feature event. Gehrig qualified well with a 6th and 3rd.
Gehrig has learned to be aggressive and steady, not getting into any of the cars in front of him for most of his racing. He is gaining more confidence each race and is developing into a good racer.
The biggest field of the season greeted the Late Model class. There were 26 cars and all would start the feature.
After finding a handling issue in the warm ups, the team decided to start scratch for the night to be sure not to wreck the car or any of the competitors.
In the feature Gehrig started finsihed 10th in the full field. The racing was fast, competitive and challenging. Gehrig worked through the heavy traffic picking off cars up until the final lap and bringing home a 10th place finsih in the 25 lap feature. We were very excited with his clean and quick drive.
In the Late Model 30 lap feature race, we started 24th of 26 cars. We definetly had the handling down as we made our way to a top 10 finish. Our crew were excited with the great run, as we passed 14 cars on our way from the back to tenth.
On Sunday we took our Late Model to Rockton Fair Grounds to be part of the 6th Annual Kings and Classic Elvis Presley contest and car show.
