After winning the June 75-lap invitational and five features this year, Jason Witty would finish second and first in his pair of heats to take the top spot in qualifying for the Velocity 250 Limited Late Model 75-lap feature.
The night didn’t start off that well as first heat pole sitter Nick Roth would spin in turns one and two, resulting in a pile-up behind him. Sean Grosman sustained heavy right front damage while Ernie Fumerton sustained heavy front end damage, as a whole, ending their nights early. The damage will end the season prematurely for both Fumerton and Grosman. Meanwhile, Nick Goetz and Andy Kamrath sustained light front end damage, but nothing too significant as they both continued.
Sunset Speedway regular Anthony Simone won the heat ahead of fellow Sunset regulars Jason Witty, Andy Kamrath and Scott Beatty. Peterborough Speedway regular Cory Horner finished fifth followed by Nick Goetz, Brandon Watson, Bruce Rankin and Nick Roth.
Sunset Speedway regular Taylor Holdaway won the second heat ahead of Sauble Speedway Champion Scott McTeer, Sauble competitor Marvin Freiburger, Sunset competitor Gary Elliott and Sauble competitor Brittany Gresel. Scott Sled finished sixth followed by Thayne Hallyburton and Billy Zardo.
2013 Sunset Speedway Champion Mike Bentley won the third heat ahead of fellow Sunset regulars Dave Bartlett, Chris Morrow and Dwayne Baker. Flamboro regular Steve Laking finished fifth followed by Jason Parker, Joshua Stade, Mat Box, Chris Mitchell and the 9.
The fourth heat didn’t go as planned as on lap seven, Kamrath got underneath Watson in turn one for the lead, yet Watson came down on Kamrath, resulting in Kamrath going for a spin. Jason Witty grabbed the win ahead of Watson, Simone, Beatty, Goetz, Horner, Rankin, Roth and Kamrath.
In the fifth heat, Sled would go for a spin in turn three on the opening lap. Billy Zardo went on to take the win ahead of McTeer, Holdaway, Freiburger, Elliott, Hanchard, Sled and Gresel.
In the final heat of the afternoon, Garry Reynolds Memorial Champion Dwayne Baker grabbed the win ahead of Morrow, Bentley, Parker, Stade, Laking, Hanchard, Box and the 9.
