Ashley McCubbin/KDR Motorsports --- This past Saturday night at Sunset Speedway, it’d be a hard fought night for KDR Motorsports as Kevin Cornelius would battle his way to a seventh place feature finish.

The Orangeville, Ontario driver would finish third and first in his pair of heats.

In the feature, Cornelius would start the No. 17 Halton Crushed Stone, Lee Sand and Gravel, Hanson Pipe, Sandbox Tech Child Care, Alliston Transmission, Ed’s Automotive and Fierce Wraps Late Model in the ninth position.

The feature would start with him battling side-by-side with Scott Beatty for four laps for the ninth position, and Beatty would work his way by on lap eight, bumping Cornelius back to the 10th position.

Cornelius would battle with Andrew Kamrath for a couple of laps, before passing Sean Cronan for ninth on lap 12. The next lap there’d be a caution for Cronan going for a spin.

On the restart, Dario Capirchio would be involved in an incident with Ernie Fumerton, allowing Cornelius to move up to eighth.

On the restart, Cornelius would slip back to ninth after being passed by Tom Walters on lap 15. Kamrath would try to pass him, though he’d hold him off and make his way up to eighth on lap 23 after a pass on Sean Grosman. The third caution would come out on lap 26 for Grosman going for a spin.

On the restart, there’d be another caution when Jason Witty would spin, allowing Cornelius to move up to the seventh position.

On the final restart with three laps to go, Cornelius would try to pass Andrew Kamrath for sixth, however would not get by.

As a result, Cornelius remains third in points, 52 points behind Walters for first, 21 points behind Mike Bentley for second.
