By Ashley McCubbin/KDR Motorsports - This past Saturday night at Sunset Speedway, it’d be a solid night for KDR Motorsports as Kevin Cornelius would bring home a fourth place feature finish.

The Orangeville, Ontario driver would finish third in the first heat after starting fifth. He would finish second in the second heat after starting third.

In the feature, Cornelius would start the No. 17 Halton Crushed Stone, Lee Sand and Gravel, Hanson Pipe, Sandbox Tech Child Care, Alliston Transmission, Ed’s Automotive and Fierce Wraps Late Model in the 10th position virtue of his points position.

By lap four, he had already moved up two positions to the eight spot and moved up two more spots to sixth before the first caution at lap eight when Chris Morrow would break something on his late model, making contact with Taylor Holdaway, collecting Keith Maiato.

The first attempt at a restart would bring a second caution, though the second attempt a restart saw Cornelius get alongside Billy Zardo for fifth. Cornelius would not be able to get by Zardo as Zardo would get alongside Jason Witty for fourth, leaving Cornelius to battle with Beatty for sixth.

They’d remain side-by-side until the third caution on lap 14 for Zardo’s flat tire in turns three and four after contact from Beatty. After going back a lap, looking at the scoring and moving both Zardo and Beatty to the back, Cornelius would line up fifth on the restart.

On the restart, Tom Walters would get by Cornelius, bumping Cornelius back to the sixth position before the next caution for Holdaway spinning Elliott in turn three at the halfway mark.

After the restart and the field began to sort out, Cornelius would begin to look for a way by Frank Davey for fifth on lap 17, completing the pass on lap 18 and beginning to looking for a way around Witty. He would then pass Witty on lap 20 for the fourth position.

He would try to find a way by Dario Capirchio for third, however could not find a way by and finished the feature in the fourth position. It marks his eighth top five of 2012.

As a result, Cornelius remains third in points, 48 behind Walters for first, one point behind Mike Bentley for second.
