Every year, the Toronto stop of the Maple Leaf Monster Jam tour doesn't fail to disappoint as some of the best drivers do some of the best tricks on the way to impressing fans.
This year will certainly live up to the expectations simply based on the line-up.
Leading off the line-up is Cam McQueen, who be driving Northern Nightmare. Northern Nightmare was unveiled in November 2011 and dubbed Canada's official truck with it's flashy red and black paint scheme. McQueen, an Alberta native, impressed fans last year behind the wheel of the truck as he won the 2013 Saturday Freestyle portion of the show. He also took the truck to World Finals in Las Vegas and won the 2012 World Finals Freestyle Championship.
The famous 'Grave Digger' truck will be in attendance and for this show be driven by Chad Tingler, who enters his 10th year of Monster Jam competition. This marks Tingler's first appearance in Digger in Toronto and he has a lot to live up to after Jon Zimmer's impressive run last year during the Sunday show. The Grave Digger team is known for doing well in Toronto, having won 24 events in the past. Tingler will have the Grave Digger truck at the Canadian Tire located in Etobicoke, Ontario from 2pm EST to 6pm EST on Friday. In the majority of Monster Jam's history in Toronto, Rod Schmidt has been behind the wheel of Digger. Schmidt has picked up 11 wins in Toronto, including a pair of Double Downs in 2006. Schmidt will be in attendance at this year's show, just in a different truck, as he will see if he can perform some high flying tricks with the Monster Mutt Rotweiler. He will be bringing fellow dog, Monster Mutt Dalmatian, with Taryn Laskey driving that truck.
While there's excitement for the appearance of the Grave Digger truck, some could say there's even more excitement for the Son UVA Digger's first appearance in Toronto. Driven by Ryan Anderson, the promise for a high-flying, never slowing down freestyle is high based on Anderson's driving style. Anderson has been known to impress fans in every city he attends with some of the top performances of the year. He is also coming off of a freestyle win this past weekend.
Neil Elliott makes his return to Toronto this year driving the famous 'Maximum Destruction' truck. Elliott has done well in Toronto in the past, picking up a pair of wins in 2003. Tom Meents has led the Maximum Destruction to victory four times in the past three years so look for Elliott to build on the winning streak.
Team Scream will have three of their trucks in the house for this event with Jim Koehler driving Avenger, Steve Koehler driving Wrecking Crew and Brad Allen driving Mega Bite. Jim Koehler has thrilled fans in the past, including a 2012 Freestyle victory after an impressive save (pictured). His brother Steve has also had success in the past, winning the 2013 Stadium Wheelie of the Year Award after doing an impressive wheelie across the floor last year. In an interview earlier this week, Steve promised to deliver a show to fans this year once again. EDIT TO ADD 1-17-2014: The fourth Team Scream truck - Spike - will also be at the Toronto show with Cory behind the wheel.
Chuck Werner will be behind the wheel of El Toro Loco, looking to bulldoze his way through some obstacles.
Other trucks that are listed in the line-up include Aftershock, Krazy Train, Higher Education, Iron Warrior and Dragon's Breath.
Each of these drivers will look to add their name to the impressive list of past Toronto winners.
