As fans look towards the 2013 Canadian Motorsports Expo happening next month from February 8th to the 10th at the International Centre in Toronto, Ontario, there is a lot to be excited about. Many companies, drivers and tracks have announced that they will have a booth set up as part of the event.
The three day event takes place from February 8-10 at Toronto’s International Centre. For the past six years, drivers have been able to connect with track representatives and companies while fans have connected with tracks, drivers and special celebrities.
Highlighting the event on Saturday February 9th is Two-time Daytona 500 winner Michael Waltrip as he will sign autographs and participate in an on-stage Q&A session.
“In addition to being a two-time winner of the Daytona 500, Michael Waltrip is one of the most popular and recognizable personalities in all of racing, Canadian Motorsports Expo Show co-promoter Rob Morton said. “He’s involved in all aspects of the sport, which gives him a unique perspective. We’re very excited that he’s coming to the CME.”
Waltrip, a veteran behind the wheel, has taken part in 770 Sprint Cup Series events during his 28 years of racing as a driver. He has now moved up to an ownership role, having both drivers Martin Truex Jr. and Clint Bowyer qualify for the Chase for the Sprint Cup last year.
Beyond that, he has become a well known television personality for helping in SPEED’s Camping World Truck Series broadcast. He published a book called In The Blink of an Eye, which talks about how things changed with the death of Dale Earnhardt.
After recently announcing that they will host the only Canadian stop for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Canadian Tire Motorsports Park will be at the CME to discuss the improvements made to their facility, plans for the 2013 race season and where they see future improvements coming. One of the biggest improvements is the new event centre that is being constructed. It will house the administration offices, media centre, timing and scoring, banquet facilities and multiple hospitality suites.
The Canadian Touring Car Championship presented by Continental Tire (CTCC) has truly earned the distinction of being Canada’s premiere professional road racing series and will be revealing their 2013 schedule at the event.
Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs – Ontario Region (CASC – OR) will be at the event looking for new members to join their club. They will be looking for people that are willing to come out and help run events.
Different tracks throughout Ontario will be at the event with booths to discuss their 2013 schedules and connect with drivers in hopes of expanding their fields for the season ahead.
CSC Racing out of Newmarket, Ontario has announced that they will have a booth at the event to connect with drivers in hopes of some new customers. The CSC retail division handles everything that “isn’t engines, fuel or tire-related,” and they have become Canada’s largest Master Distributor of Bell Racing Helmets and HANS devices.
Lincoln Electric has announced that they will have a booth at the show, showcasing all of their welding products.
These announcements so far just touch the surface in all that is planned for the event in Toronto as more events will come forth in the coming weeks. For updates on the CME, visit the website atwww.CanadianMotorsportsExpo.com.
