The 2012 Monster Jam show in Toronto was a highlight and one to remember. George Belhan won racing on Saturday while Tom Meents won Freestyle. Then on Sunday, it was Meents winning racing with Jim Koehler winning freestyle.
When it came to these two days of competition, the highlight personally for me was Koehler's run on Sunday. High leaps, wheelies, and an incredible save gave him the victory.
As quoted from last year's recap......
After the disappointment of not being able to complete racing due to a broken axle shaft and after his teammate Chris Bergeron’s performance, Jim Koehler brought Avenger out, like it had been shot of a cannon. Right away, he went for the biggest the obstacle, clearing it at a height that the fans had not been seen yet. Koehler kept the performance up, hitting other obstacles at high heights with some donuts mixed in.
This had kept the fans pumped up and excited, but it wasn’t enough, yet. That moment came when he tried to cross-thread with the biggest obstacle and flipped the truck. It looked like that it would be the end of his run, but that wasn’t so as Koehler landed the truck on its wheels and kept going after the obstacles wide-open.
The result was him scoring 34 points, including a special Pizza Pizza “11” score from one of the judges. The three judges are normally supposed to rate the drivers’ performance from one to 10. However, a special 11 is kept for performances that go beyond expectations.
Speed made the trip to Toronto for the first time and covered the event, showcasing the highlights to fans everywhere. The video is attached below and have a peak - it may encourage you to join us this year on January 19th or 20th.....or both days ;)
