Monster Jam World Finals Competitor No. 1: Tom Meents and Maximum Destruction
For all Monster Jam drivers and fans. there's one event that stands above the rest. They could go to countless shows throughout the year, but nothing beats this show in particular. Yes, I'm talking about World Finals at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas in March.
Each year, the best of the best tackle stadium across the weekend in hopes to be crowned the World Racing Champion, or the World Freestyle Champion.
Monster Jam has began announcing the line-up for the 2014 show and began the list off earlier this week by announcing that Tom Meents and Maximum Destruction will be looking for their 12th crown.
No matter the stadium the veteran goes to, he puts on a show everytime, destroying as many obstacles as possible, while getting some of the highest air and performing the craziest saves. Hence the truck name - Maximum Destruction.
“It’s all about going big and performing huge and whatever happens after that, who cares,” he said of the truck theme back in a interview in 2012. “The crew, they know they’re going to be in for a lot of work to do during the week and Maximum Destruction is more than just a name, it’s a way of doing business.”
Though in putting on that big show, Meents added that the biggest challenge is to make sure not to flip over.
“These things are hard to keep going and keep the parts together on them, but that’s what makes it awesome when you get it all to come together," he added. "A great run, a great performance, the truck stays together – that’s what gets the people going crazy.”
