By: Ashley McCubbin/Sunset Informative --- Nicole Podewils would work her way through the field to come home with a sixth place feature finish.
The Barrie, Ontario driver would finish second in her first heat to points leader Eric Yorke. In the second heat, she’d finish seventh.
In the feature, Podewils would start her No. 79 Fox’s Bakery and Deli, Central Appliance, Barrie ChemDry and Permatex Mustang mid-pack. She would crack the top 10 on lap nine. She would then move up to ninth with a pass on Dan Britt on lap 10, followed by a pass on Brian Love for eighth on lap 13.
She’d move up to seventh on lap 14 before the lap 16 caution for Gehrig Haliday spinning Ken Townsend. With both drivers being sent to the back, she’d move up to the fifth position.
On the restart, Brian Love would bump her back to sixth, where’d she run side-by-side with Dan Britt all the way till lap 21. She would then pass Love back on lap 21 for fifth.
She’d continue to run fifth all the way till the final laps, where Love would make a late race pass, handing her a sixth place finish.
