Nicole Podewils would make her way through a fast field of Mini Stocks at Sunset Speedway to pick up the feature victory.

She started off the night finishing second behind Ben Melenhorst in the first heat after starting fourth. She then finished second in the second heat behind Billy Swartzenburg after starting fifth.

In the feature, she’d start 12th and escaped the first lap wreck to move into the 10th position.

On the restart, she continued her climb, moving into fourth on lap six. Podewils then passed Terry Woodley on lap 10 when his car jumped out of gear.  On lap 11, she would then pass Steve Belanger for second.

Podewils then worked on tracking down Melenhorst for the lead, getting alongside him on lap 14, passing him on lap 15. She would lead all the way till the caution on lap 19 for Ben Wolf having problems.

On the restart, she battled side-by-side with Brandon McFerran for the lead till the caution flew again for Wendy Adams spinning.

On the final restart of the night with six laps to go, she’d battle hard beside McFerran, clearing him with four laps to go. She led the final four laps, beating Swartzenburg and McFerran to the line.

Special thanks to Fox's Bakery and Deli, Central Appliance, Barrie ChemDry and Permatex for their continued support.
