One-on-One with OSCAAR Competitor Brandon Watson
Known as one of the most talented young drivers in Ontario, Brandon Watson embarks on his first full season in the OSCAAR Super Late Model Series.
On the opening night at Sunset Speedway, Watson took home the feature victory. It marked his second OSCAAR feature win after winning the 2010 Autumn Colors Classic.
Before taking the green flag for round one of the McColl Pro Series at Sunset Speedway last weekend, Watson answered some questions.......
Ashley McCubbin: What are some of your thoughts heading into your first full OSCAAR season?
Brandon Watson: I’m really looking forward to racing the full season in OSCAAR; my first full season in that series. Hoping to get a few more wins under my belt, maybe take home that championship
AM: How'd you get started in racing?
BW: I started in go-karting when I was eight. My father took me and he also raced too, which got me into racing. I just followed in his footsteps. Always knew I was going to race. raced go-karts, moved into 4 cylinder, from there moved to late model till now.
AM: What's the biggest lesson you've learned in racing?
BW: I guess the biggest thing I’ve learned over the years is try to keep my nose clean, try to watch the racing in front. You never know who is going to wreck in front of you. you never know ‘cause even if you don’t have a good car, you can still win ‘cause of a wreck in front of you. first of all, keep your nose clean and try and finish the race.
AM: I know it takes a lot of sponsors and crew. Who would you like to thank?
BW: I'd like to thank Royal Distributing for coming on this year; they’ve helped out a lot. Knightwork Designs has been involved the past few years. They did the design for this car, making it look awesome. Barrie Frame and Alignment, Ken McKinnon and Smart Exchange.
