Billy and Scotty returned from Sauble Speedway at 2:00am and after a few hours sleep, headed to Flamboro Speedway with Samantha for the Canada Day Invitational. Plenty of sunshine greeted only three Spira‐Lucas Oil cars and with a wrecked race car in the shop, Jake and his dad were off to Sunset Speedway to support Jake’s uncle and Wades brother Glen who was running in the Oscaar Super Series event.

Time trials were used to set the three fastest cars that would then sit out the heat races and start at the back of the field and if they raced through the field to win, they would receive the bonus payout of $500.00 for 1st, $200.0 for 2nd and $100.00 for 3rd. Billy set the fastest time to go to the rear of the field with the #31 and #64 that were 2nd and 3rd. The balance of the field lined up for their heat races where Samantha would start on the pole and Scott 3rd. At the half way mark, Samantha continued to lead followed by the #18 and Scotty in 3rd. The #38 would take over 3rd from Scott as the race concluded with Samantha picking up the win. With no Late Models in attendance, Late Model driver and crew member Steve Laking was on hand to provide added advice to the young drivers as they diagnosed handling problems and set their cars up for the feature.

Sam started on the pole for the 25 lap feature with Scott 7th and Billy at the back of the 20 car field. As Sam ran out front, the #31, #64 and Billy in the #86, formed a line nose to tail and headed for the front, moving through traffic like a train. The three cars running for the bonus money, caught up to Scott who was running 6th on the 5th lap. Billy made his move around the #64 as Sam surrendered the lead to the #13 and the #71 on lap ten and Scott fell to 9th. Billy continued towards the front and got by the #31 for 5th and as he got inside the #38 for 4th, the #38 hooked the tail of the #86 and with Billy hanging on trying to turn the car out of turn four, the #38 snapped loose and hit the wall bringing out the caution on lap 17. The restart had the #13 out front, followed by the #71, Samantha in 3rd and then Billy, the #31 and #64 with Scott in 8th. Billy moved by Samantha into 3rd with seven laps remaining, just before the caution came out for the #10 who had suffered damage to the front of the car and left debris on the track. The #13 and #71 were the only cars standing between Billy and the extra $500.00 bonus that the team would donate to the Guelph Wish Fund for Children as Samantha ran in 5th with Scott two positions behind in 7th. With just two laps remaining, Scotty got bumped from behind, sending him into Samantha with enough force to spin her into the infield. Sam collected the car and returned to the track to avoid the caution and Scott recieved the black flag, sending him to the back for rough driving. Billy took over 2nd and as the field took the white flag, moved inside the #13 to take over the lead and win his second race of the weekend and pick up the $500.00 bonus. The #64 and #31 just missed out on their bonus money as they finished three wide with the #71, finishing 4th and 5th. The format for the race of sending the three fastest cars to the back put on a very good show and the Spira Race Team would like to thank Mike from London Recreational who put up the bonus money for the event. As a way of showing their appreciation, the Spira Team will be donating the $500.00 to the Guelph Wish Fund for Children in the name of London Recreational.

Next up for the Spira ‐ Appolo Valve Team will be all cars returning to Flamboro Speedway for the second leg  of the Grisdale Triple Crown Series for the Late Models and team member, Steve Laking. Steve won the first segment of the series and will have the full support of the Spira Team as he tries to build on his current points lead. Pit gates open at 3:00pm, the grandstand gates at 5:00pm, qualifying at 6:00pm and racing begins at
