Billy and Samantha were the only two Spira‐Guelph Wish Fund For Children cars that headed for Sauble Speedway for a rare Wednesday night event. The Dash for Cash race is a popular event for the many tourists that frequent the beach town for summer vacation and there was a good crowd in the stands to watch the show that consisted of three classes. Billy had two previous feature wins this year at the track and the team made sure that they had put the same set‐up into the car that had proven successful in the past.

Both cars had plenty of practice sessions used to correct loose conditions, however Billy’s #86 was not as quick as it was the last time it was at the track and more than the average changes were thrown at the car to get it to turn in the corners. Billy and Sam lined up for the first of two heat races with Billy 7th and Samantha 10th. The ten lap race was under caution on the first lap as the #98 spun in the outside lane at the front of the field. Billy made it through the jacked up cars behind the #98 as he was on the inside, however Sam had no place to go and went head on into the pile‐up. The #81 had a damage on the front end, however was good to go for the complete restart. Billy restarted up 3 positions in 4th as Sam would restart 6th. The #17 took the lead up front as Billy moved into 3rd and Samantha fell to
the back. At the half way mark, Billy was into 2nd, well behind the #17 and Samantha had moved forward to 7th. The two Spira‐Plasti‐Kote cars maintained their positions through the balance of the caution free race to finish 2nd and 7th.

Sam lined up in the pole position for the second heat race with Billy not far behind in 4th. Samantha over drove the first corner that resulted in her spinning out and restarting at the back of the 9 car field, putting Billy 3rd. After a few cautions that took out three of the nine cars starting the race, Billy moved up to the front to collect the win as Samantha finished 5th.

Billy started 4th and Sam 17th for the 30 lap feature with 18 cars making up the field. Billy moved into second and Samantha was moving to the front until the 3rd lap, when she got spun from the 14th position and ended up going to the back of the field. Billy ran side by side with the #51 for multiple laps for the lead and as he took over up front, the #51 got spun behind him by the #17 bringing out the caution. Samantha moved up to 12th as Billy led the field for multiple restarts due to additional cautions. With only 13 cars remaining at the half way point, Billy remained at the front and Samantha had worked her way up to 9th. Billy, followed by the #1, pulled well ahead of the field and stuck together as they ran through lapped traffic to the finish with Billy picking up his 3rd win at the track this season. Samantha was unable to pick up additional positions due to suspension damage from the lap three wrecks, and finished 9th.

Next up for the Spira ‐ Lucas Oil Team is a split weekend with Jake and the #22 heading to Flamboro Speedway on August 17th, as Billy and Samantha head north to Sunset Speedway and Scott is not racing as he is on vacation in North Carolina. Pit gates open at 4:00pm, the grandstand gates at 5:00pm, and racing begins at 8:00pm at Flamboro and the pits open at 2:00pm, grandstands at 5:00pm and racing begins at 6:30pm at Sunset.
