In anticipation for the 2013 racing season, Sunset International Speedway has released their 2013 tentative schedule. The 1/3 mile in Innisfil, Ontario has a packed schedule, beginning in May through the end of September.

As announced earlier this year, for the first time in series history, the ISMA Modifieds will make an apperance on August 18th. With the speed and loudness of these mods, it is no surprise that excitement is already building for the event.  They will be joined by the Lucas Oil Can-Am Midgets, which always put on a show when they are at Sunset.

Also as revealed earlier this year, the OSCAAR Super Late Models & Modifieds will have five races at Sunset Speedway, including a double header in June. The speed that they have and caliber of drivers always means a good show for the fans. Who could forget last year's Velocity 250? Jeff Hanley and George Wilson made contact while battling for the lead with Wilson in the inside wall, with Hanley driving his way through the field to take the win.

Sunset will play host to the OSCAAR season opener on May 19th, and will be joined by the Midgets. This will be known as Lucie Alywin Memorial Night.

The next OSCAAR date is a double header at the end of June (29/30), known as Don Biederman Memorial weekend.  With Kawartha Speedway cutting back on their number of events in 2013, the series was in need of a new home for their annual Don Biederman Memorial race. Sunset will play host to the event, except under new rules.

Instead of a one-night 75-lapper for the Super Lates, they will run a 50 lapper on Saturday and then a 50 lapper on Sunday, each having their own qualifying heats and counting for points seperately. They will combine the two days to crown a Don Biederman Memorial Champion.

Pro Challenge will join the OSCAAR ranks on Saturday, with Lucas Oil Canadian Vintage Modifieds joining them on the Sunday.

OSCAAR will return to Sunset on July 27th with both divisions, and be joined by CANADA-USA Pro 4 Modified Shootout.

The final event for OSCAAR will be September 29th, as part of Sunset's final event of the year - Velocity weekend. This event last year hosted six different divisions across two days, putting the best of the best against each other.

Sunset Speedway track promotor Mark Dilley said that the weekend would be expanded out to three days - September 27th to 29th - with seven classes running this year, on top of both the OSCAAR Super Late Models and Modifieds.

The latest schedule reveals include those highlights, among others.

Once again, Sunset will play host to weekly Limited Late Model, Super Stock and Mini Stock racing each Saturday night, except for a couple, from May 4th till Championship Night on September 14th.

Returning also are the ever-popular Fan Appreciation Nights, which allow fans to go down on the track pre-race to get autographs and treats from all of their favourite competitors. There will be three nights in 2013 - June 8th, August 10th and Championship night on September 14th.

Also, the kids will get their race on July 6th as part of Kids Bicycle racing, which was popular in years before with many kids wanting to compete against each other.

While Pro Challenge will be at the track as part of OSCAAR's June 29th date, they will also be at Sunset on May 11th and part of Velocity 250 weekend on September 28th.

Invitationals return in 2013 as they have grown to be popular with drivers from all across the province. The first one will take place on Sunday June 16th with the second on August 4th before the big invitational weekend, Velocity 250 weekend, which is slated for September 27th to 29th.

A new addition this year is the "Home to Home" series which will have Sauble Speedway drivers come to Sunset on July 13th, while Sunset drivers go to Sauble on June 29th. Both events will be worth points so they will play a crucial role in determining the 2013 division champions. Details about this have yet to be announced as they'll come as we get closer to the start of the season.
