Fan Appreciation Night…Gehrig’s First Time Signing Autographs
It wasn’t raining when we headed to Sunset Speedway Saturday afternoon. It was quite sunny. Things changed later, we did manage to get in one of two qualifying heats. The rains came just before sundown and races were postponed to another time later in the season, so we won’t lose the night.
Earlier in the evening every race car in all three divisions came on the track for fan appreciation. It was a great opportunity for fans to meet the drivers up close and get an autograph. Many fans wished us well knowing the rough start we’ve had.
Our crew came out with me, Bob, Steve and Matt. They enjoyed talking to fans as well, all wearing their new Quaker State apparel.
We gave out many pictures featuring Quaker State and all our sponsors. The fans loved our car; some saying it looked brand new. We did rebuild, paint and re-letter it after our May 27th crash, but it was nice to hear it from our fans.
Our next race is this coming Sunday at Sunset Speedway. We are also attending a Father & Son Breakfast in St. Catharines on Saturday morning. We’ll be sending our reports on both of those events next week.
