Following a pair of fires during the season for one rookie driver, an award was created just for her. The first ever “Hottest Chic at Sunset Speedway” Award was presented to Mini Stock rookie driver Lisa Wells.
During her rookie season at Sunset Speedway, her car caught fire twice. Ironically, the car was numbered 911.
The first fire was on the third night of racing when she caught fire on the backstretch. She would be back out the following week, finishing 14th in the feature after finishing in the top five in both of her heats.
She would then have a fire later on in the year. As a result, Wells changed her number to 91.

Despite missing some nights late in the season, Wells finished 24th in points out of 51 drivers with five heat top fives on the season.
