Tyler Johnston would battle hard throughout the Mini Stock feature to finish 14th at Sunset Speedway.
He started off the night finishing fourth in the first heat after starting fifth. The second heat would not go as well as he ran into mechanical problems, being forced to pull off. However, the crew would get it fixed and he’d return for the feature.
Come feature time, Johnston started 19th and made his way up to 13th by the time the second caution flew at lap 10 for Peter Inglis spinning. He continued to run 13th all the way till the third caution for Chris Free spinning on lap 13. Johnston would get by Kendra Adams to move into 12th before the fifth caution for Mike Robinson Jr. spinning in turn two.
From the restart on, Johnston would battle hard, though slipped back two spots after Eric Yorke and Ken Townsend made their way to run 14th. Johnston was running 14th when on lap 23 of 25, Hemingway spun and Adams made hard contact with the right side of Hemingway’s car. As a result, officials deemed the race over and Johnston was credited with a 14th place finish.
Currently, Johnston sits 13th in points, 85 points out of the top 10.
