This past weekend at Sunset Speedway, Tyler Johnston competed in regular Saturday night racing and Sunday’s first round of the McColl Racing Enterprises Pro Series.

On Saturday, Tyler Johnston came home eighth in the feature for fourth straight top 10 finish.

In the first heat, Johnston started pole and led two laps before finishing third.

In the second heat, the Holland Landing, Ontario native started sixth and was spun by Dan Britt on lap five. He would finish the heat in eighth place.

In the feature, the driver of the No. 07 Custom Copper Works, L S Masonry, Clean Up Green Up, Larry Wilsons Contracting, Home Innovations and Entra Civic started 10th. By lap five, he had gained three spots and as up to seventh.

The first caution would come on lap eight for Harold Noseworthy going for a spin while Johnston ran seventh.

When the third caution came out on lap 16 for Dave Henderson Jr. spinning Wendy Adams, Johnston was back to ninth. He would pass Brian Love before the end of the feature, finishing eighth.

He now sits fourth in points, only 38 points out of third and 77 out of the lead.

On Sunday, Johnston came home 18th in a feature full of the best Mini Stocks in Ontario.

In the first heat, he finished sixth.

In the second heat, Johnston would get pushed into the outside wall by Ken Townsend, resulting in a seventh place finish.

In the feature, Johnston would be running ninth under the first caution on lap 19 of 35 for Warren Paxton having problems. However, the second half of the feature wouldn’t be Johnston’s strong suit as he’d drop back to 18th.
