Trevor Huddleston Ready to Ride Momentum into Home Event

The ARCA Menards Series West resumed its season last weekend at the Utah Motorsports Campus with a pair of races, and one driver who had an interesting day was Trevor Huddleston.

Huddleston started out wrecking out of the first race and finished 13th out of the 14 cars entered. The driver of the No. 6 Sunrise Ford was able to bounce-back in the second event of the day, scoring a fifth-place finish while his teammate, Blaine Perkins went to victory lane.

“It was a whirlwind of a weekend,” Huddleston said in a Zoom press conference Wednesday. “To finish fifth, we’ve got to hang our heads high on that one but, it didn’t come easy. We had my whole crew work hard and it made it interesting, with everybody having their masks on and working going all crazy on the car to get it ready. Salvaged a top-five, so you got take the ones the best you can.”

The recovery was also important for Huddleston’s position in the points standings, as even though it is early in the season, he knows how important every point can be throughout the year.

“Especially coming off some of the races we had, points are so valuable,” Huddleston said. “I mean you can lose so many, so quickly, and it is really hard to gain those back. I think it is really important to run good, to get a win. If you can rack up as many wins as possible, that is what matters most. So, you got to take your advantages and really use them just in case if go to different tracks where you are not as good. I think it is going to be very important to win.”

Looking ahead to this weekend, the series will go to Irwindale Speedway, a place that Huddleston is very familiar with. Not only did he capture a win in the last West race at the track, the 24-year-old also has a family connection to the California facility. His dad, Tim, serves as the track’s general manager.

With all of that in mind, Huddleston’s is channeling his inner Ricky Bobby, saying his motivation for this weekend is “if you are not first, you are last,” as he looks to decrease the 24-point gap between him, and current points leader, Jesse Love.
