TORONTO, Ontario — After watching Marc-Antoine Camirand qualify 18th for the Tiffany Gate Grand Prix of Toronto, a lot of people did not expect him to be a factor at the front of the field. However, he was able to make his way forward, scoring a third-place finish.

“We are pretty proud as a team after we struggled in practice and were not able to qualify – start from the back in 18th-place,” he told NEWS FROM THE PITS. “Coming back to finish third, the team deserve a push on that. Really proud of them. I was patient all the way through, made some good clean passes, and we finished third. We finally had a good result here in Toronto.”

This season has been a mix of good and bad for Camirand, as the performance has been there with no finishes worse than fourth including a victory at Autodrome Chaudiere. However, he ranks third in standings, 30 points behind Treyten Lapcevich for the lead, following a penalty from the series.

The momentum from the success in Toronto, as well as knowing his crew chief Robin McCluskey will be back after a one-race suspension has Camirand entering the western swing with confidence.

“We won at Edmonton last year, we know the car will be fast, so hopefully we have a good trip out there,” he commented.
