Toyota and Ford Introduce a New Cup Series Model Debuting in 2024

Two manufacturers will enter the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season with a new look as Toyota and Ford both introduced new models throughout November.

Ford announced the Ford Mustang, “Dark Horse” look a week before the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series finale:

The Ford Mustang, “Dark Horse” continues the manufacture’s goal of having different versions of their Mustang race in different forms of motorsports across the world. The Ford Mustang will race in six continents beginning in 2024.

Mustang’s berth in NASCAR goes all the way back to 2011, in what is now the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Since then, the Mustang expanded into the NASCAR Cup Series in 2019; it won the championship in 2022 and 2023.

“If she gallops as fast as she looks, it’s going to be a good year,” said Brad Keselowski, co-owner and driver of Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing.

Toyota was the second manufacturer to announce a new look for the 2024 season.

Moving on from the Toyota Camry TRD Next Gen, they bring in the Toyota Camry XSE. This version of a Toyota model will join two other types of Toyota that already had a presence in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (Toyota Supra) and Craftsman Truck Series (Toyota Tundra).

Last year, Toyota filled up six Cup Series teams. In 2024, Legacy Motor Club will switch from Chevrolet to Toyota, expanding Toyota’s appearance in the Cup Series to eight full-time cars. The Toyota Camry has been in NASCAR for many years, first introduced in 2006.

“The 2024 Camry XSE race car will properly highlight Toyota’s attention to detail as has been showcased in the new street version Toyota Camry. We are excited to bring this car to the race track and continue to achieve success with it for years to come,” said Paul Doleshal, group manager of motorsports, TMNA (Toyota Motor North America).

Chevrolet is the last manufacturer in NASCAR that has not changed their model from the 2023 season.
