It seems things that are the biggest rumors and discussed potential moves become true, as evident by Joe Gibbs Racing revealing their line-up for the 2024 campaign. They did indeed that Sheldon Creed would be racing for them, making the move from Richard Childress Racing. Are we really surprised after the drama at Martinsville Speedway?

After feeling as though he was being considered second fiddle at RCR, this will give Creed the chance to prove himself in the team’s primary entry with no excuses. After all, Nemechek made the Championship 4 with seven wins last year.

It’s the same reason you cannot say that Chandler Smith has any excuses either, as he joins Joe Gibbs Racing after spending 2023 with Kaulig Racing. Smith proved he was fast, scoring 13 top-10’s including a victory at Richmond Raceway. Kaulig Racing failed to place a driver in the Championship 4 last season, so perhaps this is the move that Smith felt was necessary in seeing the success by Nemechek.

Aric Almirola may be retiring from full-time competition, but you still see him on-track some as he will run a partial schedule in 2024 for Joe Gibbs Racing. It’s a reunion of sorts, and maybe the perfect rejuvenation to end his career after just scoring 12 top-10’s in the Cup Series with no victories the past two seasons with Stewart-Haas Racing. The Florida native did win in the Xfinity Series in 2023, picking up the victory at Sonoma Raceway with RSS Racing.

Speaking of RSS Racing, they have announced Blaine Perkins will drive for them on a full-time basis this upcoming season. The move comes after the California native split last season between SS Green Light and Our Motorsports, picking up four top-20 results, including a season-best 13th at Martinsville Speedway. RSS is best known for their success with Ryan Sieg in placing inside the top-15 in points over four of the past five years, but only managed to score four top-10’s in 2023.
