TORONTO, Ontario — On a final restart with 13 laps to go, the fans in attendance for the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy got to witness a car fly through the air coming out of turn one. The driver who had the distinct honour in going for the ride was Santino Ferrucci.
Following a restart with 15 laps to go, Pato O’Ward got loose going into the corner, spinning around and facing in the direction of traffic. The front wing of his No. 5 Arrow McLaren entry ultimately became a ramp, with Ferrucci making contact with it and vaulting him into the air and flipping over.
Thankfully, both O’Ward and Ferrucci, as well as the other drivers involved in the incident were all okay.
News From The Pits caught up with Ferrucci afterwards to get his thoughts on what happened.
