Making the move from go-karts to the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda, Rasmus Lindh has been quicker with each race weekend in the books, and will enter Road America on the heels of back-to-back third-place finishes.
Though before heading to the road course, the Pabst Racing driver shared his thoughts with POPULAR OPEN WHEEL.
POPULAR OPEN WHEEL: What are your thoughts going into Road America?
RASMUS LINDH: I’m really excited because it’s a big track, and just in general, I’m just looking forward to it.
POW: How would you characterize your season so far?
LINDH: I actually think we’re getting better and better every race that I get to do. Like in St. Petersburg, it was my first race in open-wheel and first race in USF2000, so we had a little bit of trouble, but we got the speed in the end. Then at Indy and Lucas Oil, we found the speed, and it feels just better and better all the time that I am in the car.
POW: What are your goals for this season?
LINDH: I’m thinking about being in the top-three in the championship. We’re right now P5 in the championship, but we’re getting closer every time.
POW: What’s been your biggest surprise in going from karts to USF2000?
LINDH: I actually think it’s more difficult to find speed in a go-kart than USF2000, or an open-wheel car, because the tracks are bigger, and I think in general it’s a little bit easier to drive a USF2000 car than a go-kart.
POW: Beyond Road America, is there a track that you’re looking forward to?
LINDH: I’m looking forward to Toronto, as well.
POW: How did you get your start in racing?
LINDH: It was actually my grandfather that had been racing, and winning. My friend lived not far from me and wanted to try out karting and he asked me if I wanted to try it, and that’s how it all started.
POW: Who is your racing hero?
LINDH: My hero is Ayrton Senna.
POW: What would it mean to you to race in the Verizon IndyCar Series one day?
LINDH: It would mean a lot because I actually like the concept that they have in IndyCar, and it would mean a lot to me to race in IndyCar.
