Dollar Looks to Continue Strong Season in Pocono

While the ARCA Menards Series season has not been what anyone would have expected, so far it has gone good for Drew Dollar.

Dollar, competing in his first full-time campaign with Venturini Motorsports, started the year off finishing third at Daytona International Speedway, and when action resumed the past Saturday at Talladega Superspeedway, took home his first win.

“This one is nice to get one done this early in the season,” Dollar said in a Zoom press conference Wednesday.“To have that pressure off of you for a little bit because the first one is the toughest one to finish. So, that’s nice to go ahead and have that.”

To continue the early season momentum, Dollar says the team just needs to keep doing what they have been and “bringing fast Camrys to the track every week.”

Dollar also knows in order to keep up this impressive stretch, he will need to remain focused at the races ahead, even mentioning his first win celebration had to be time managed.

“I think the first two days after Talladega, I woke up thinking about Talladega and how I won,” Dollar said. “Then on the third day, maybe even the second day, I was already thinking and preparing for Pocono. I’ve been focused on Pocono the majority of this week and I’m just excited to go there.”

Looking ahead to Pocono, which is the next race on the schedule, this weekend will mark Dollar’s first time at the track. Being that the ARCA has scheduled only one 45-minute practice before the General Tire #AnywhereIsPossible 200, Dollar noted relying on the experience of his team to get him the right track.

“Pocono is definitely going to be a little bit different, especially only getting three or four laps of practice,” Dollar said.“I have been watching some races, been watching some in-car and trying to pick up what I can there and, talking to Shannon (Rursch, crew chief) and Billy (Venturini, team owner). I’m going to have to lean on them a lot this week. I feel like we are going to be alright showing up and having speed. Obviously, the car is going to be good and, I’m just going to have to get myself up to speed as quick I can.”

Dollar will enter the weekend second in points, 11 behind current leader, Michael Self.
