Sometimes when you stick a microphone in front of a driver’s face – especially when they’re mad, you have no clue what they may say and a couple of times you’ll hear something that surprises you or gives you a bit of a perspective.
Throughout the NASCAR Pinty’s Series season, there were quite a few of these moments. So it seems only fitting we take a glance back through the year at what was said.
“First part of the race, we were okay, just trying to ride and trying different stuff for the second half of the race. I knew (Marc Antoine) Camirand was super fast, class of the field obviously. So second half of the race, was just trying to keep pressure, and make him burn his stuff up. I was burning my stuff up too, and I was hoping there’d be a restart because the outside run really well for me the first of couple of laps. I passed him clean, and he just dive bombed me on the green-white-checkered, almost wreck me, and then Treyten (Lapcevich) took the lead and I ran out of time. I can’t thank everyone for their support. We’ll make it happen sometime this year for sure.” – Raphael Lessard on the final laps at Sunset Speedway
“The 96 (Camirand) started to come down on me on the straightaway on the restart and I just let him have it. I knew he was going to go into the 8 (Lessard) with some speed, so there was no sense in trying to battle him and let the 8 get away. So that’s what I did, and the hole opened up this season and I took it.” – Treyten Lapcevich on the final laps at Sunset Speedway
“We showed a lot of speed and everybody is working really hard to improve moving forward. We worked so hard to be up front. But for the team, it was just a good testament for everybody in the shop and give us some good momentum moving forward. Unfortunately, we wanted to win, but we’re on the podium so it’s a good weekend for us.” – L.P. Dumoulin heading into the western swing
“Both tracks (Edmonton and Sutherland Automotive Raceway) out there out west we’ve run well at. The track in Edmonton was a track that I really liked and Saskatoon. The series is very competitive so anything can happen, but for us to finish on the podium, it’s good for us.” – Andrew Ranger heading into the western swing
“The first 50 laps went good for us. Unfortunately, we struggled a little after that. I started getting in loose in, loose off and got passed by a couple cars. I was having issues with the brakes, having issues getting used to those. Unfortunately, we put too much rear brake in going into three and just came around me and wasn’t about to save it. That hurt us and we got caught up on the curb, and unfortunately, the leader just got by us.” – Brandon Watson on Sunset Speedway
