ARCA Menards Series

PREVIEW: Tide 150 at Kansas Speedway

By: Ashley McCubbin

After witnessing a first career victory for Connor Zilisch at Dover International Speedway, all eyes turn to Kansas Speedway this weekend for the fifth event of 2024 for the ARCA Menards Series. With 25 drivers entered, there are a lot of potential in whom could be visiting victory lane.

Mark Webb was the car owner for Zilisch last weekend, but will not have him behind the wheel this time around. Connor Mosack takes over the ride in hopes of going two-in-a-row for the team. He knows what it takes to get the job done, picking up a checkered flag of his own last season at Kansas with Joe Gibbs Racing, and has placed inside the top-five in his last three events there. It marks his second appearance of 2024 after placing fourth at Phoenix Raceway for Webb.

Christian Rose has a solid past at Kansas Speedway, posting a 7.3 across three events with a best result of sixth. Rose currently ranks fourth in the standings with a pair of top-five’s, hoping to rebound after crashing out at Dover.

Andres Perez enters as the points leader, just a single marker ahead of Greg Van Alst, with three top-10 finishes through the first three months of 2024. The Mexican ran both ARCA events at Kansas last season with a sixth in May, followed by 17th after a crash in September.

After a third at Daytona, Greg Van Alst backed it up with another top-10 an eighth this past weekend at Dover. He hopes to carry the momentum after scoring three top-10’s in five Kansas appearances, highlighted by a pair of sevenths.

His teammate Lavar Scott has also run up front, scoring a season-best fourth at Dover to put him sixth in the season standings. He ran well at Kansas last September, picking up a fourth.

Toni Breidinger has gotten better in each of her appearances in Kansas, as she searches for her second top-five at the 1.5-mile oval following a third last September. She has two top-10’s and two crashes in four events, placing her eighth in points.

Although her teammate Amber Balcaen placed 22nd with suspension issues in Kansas last year, you cannot count her out for a solid run after placing ninth and eighth in the events prior. She will look to rebound after crashing at Dover, and get her season back on-track that includes a pair of top-10’s to rank fifth in the standings.

Kris Wright was solid at Dover with a sixth-place finish, putting him fifth in the points after a runner-up at Talladega Superspeedway. Although he has yet to run an ARCA race at Kansas, he has ran a trio of NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events with a best result of 25th in 2022.

Andy Jankowiak may be known to most as a modified racer, but he is making waves in ARCA, currently ranked seventh in the standings with a pair of top-10 finishes including a seventh last week at Dover. He has made three appearances at Kansas, with a best finish of 10th last September.
